SIMON HAINES

Simon is an award-winning actor and filmmaker. ​

 

He stars in upcoming A24/Channel 4 comedy IT GETS WORSE, directed by Mounia Akl, followed by the highly-anticipated next season of a hit ITV drama. 

 

Screen credits include memorable roles in Edgar Wright’s THE RUNNING MAN, Emmy-nominated spy thriller PONIES alongside Emilia Clarke, and THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER, in which he plays fan-favourite Malendol.

 

He stars in four upcoming feature films, including leading roles in dramedy thriller HONEYWELL and queer coming-of-age romance WORLD ON FIRE.

 

On stage, he has played leading roles from the West End to the Dutch National Theatre, with Michael Billington calling one role “a perfect performance from Simon Haines”.

 

He is proudly bisexual, neurodiverse and from a low-income background. He studied on full scholarships at Guildhall and Cambridge, writing and performing comedy with the Cambridge Footlights.

As a filmmaker, he's directed/written/produced films which have  screened worldwide including at Oscar-, BAFTA- and BIFA-qualifying festivals. His debut short as writer-director SENIOR CONSULTANT! has won awards for Best Comedy, Best Writer and Best Acting Ensemble. His next short STILL OPEN? is in post-production, due for release in 2027.

Passionate about craft, he has been teaching for 15 years. He teaches and directs at top drama schools and is a tutor at the National Film and Television School (NFTS). He coaches actors and directors privately, with projects ranging from shorts to high-end British television and Hollywood movies.

Simon is apprentice to ‘coach to the stars’ Adrienne Weiss. Simon is the only person in the UK certified to teach Adrienne’s world-renowned method for getting great performances from actors. Simon has also consulted for the legendary Professor Ken Rea, most notably for The Outstanding Actor - a key set textbook in drama schools worldwide.
